About
Sometimes one reason is enough.
Reasons to Recover is a collection of real reasons from real people trying to recover from eating disorders.
I built this because recovery is hard. Some days I have a hundred reasons to keep going. Some days I have none. Or at least it feels that way.
I spend a lot of time looking for hope, motivation, proof that recovery is worth it. Most of what I found felt clinical, polished, or written by people who didn't really get it.
What helped me most are real people.
The person recovering because of their dog. Their daughter. The person recovering because they wanted their life back.
The person who wasn't sure recovery was worth it, but decided to try one more day anyway.
I wanted a place where those reasons could live. A place where people could remind each other what they're fighting for.
A place where someone having a terrible day could find one reason to keep going.
You don't have to be recovered to contribute here. You don't need a success story or a perfect ending. Sometimes the reason helping you get through today is exactly the reason someone else needs to hear.
Every reason on this site came from a real person. Maybe one of them will help you too.
Love,
Dee
